Saturated Fat No Longer Considered Bad

30 November 2010 No Comment

We here at PhysicalFitnessRx.com have never been “bandwagon jumpers” or chasers of fad nutritional concepts.  That’s why we’ve never advocated low carb diets, super high protein consumptions, and the like.  Seems like for several years the mainstream seems to make some kind of nutrient public enemy #1 (right now, it’s carbs).  But, thankfully, after several tests, studies, and real life observations are done with an open mind, most of the time that belief dies off.  One such example is saturated fats.

As M&F reports, “The mainstream media would like you to believe that saturated fat is the cause of almost every disease known to man including cancer, heart disease, metabolic disorders and obesity.  Yet M&F has known for quite a while that sat fat isn’t the enemy.  In fact, we’ve supported its intake for years because it’s associated with higher testosterone levels…A new study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reports that saturated fat isn’t linked to cardiovascular disease.  Researchers analyzed more than 20 studies on the maligned fat involving nearly 350,000 people and concluded that the data show no link between saturated fat intake and the risk of cardiovascular disease, coronary heart disease or stroke.”

Another such fat that is important for anyone looking to get healthy, burn fat, lose weight, and build lean muscle mass are Core Omega 3 Fatty Acids by BeachBody.
