Beets: Add To Your Arsenal
Little by little we’re finally giving the respect to good old fashion whole fruits and vegetables that are critical to optimum exercise and sports performance. The latest to add to the list are beets. As Muscle & Fitness recently posted, “A new UK study suggests you can do exactly that. Researchers had cyclists take part in two separate 4K time trials, drinking whole beet-root juice before one of them. In the end, the cyclists completed the trials an average of 48 seconds – or 2.7% – faster after drinking the beet juice. The benefit comes from beetroot juice’s ample levels of nitrate, a proven workout booster. Try a two-cup serving preworkout.”
And if you’re anything like me, I can’t stand the taste of beets. However, I’ve found that I’ve I throw them in a juicer machine, I don’t taste any of it, yet get all of the upside!
